InSAR.Hungary: Interactive Satellite Radar-Based Surface Movement Monitoring System for Hungary

What is it used for?

InSAR.Hungary provides a harmonised surface movement database covering the entire territory of Hungary. Based on Sentinel-1 L1 SLC data and derived using the PS-InSAR method, it presents Hungary's surface deformation history for the period 2015–2023 through several result products (L2A, L2B, L3A, L3B). InSAR.Hungary provides free browsing access to average deformation velocities (mm/year) associated with vertical and east–west horizontal displacement time series determined at approximately 2 million regularly spaced grid points, for both the purely PSI-based L3A and the L3B result product calibrated using the GNSS velocity field.

What problem does it solve?

Users can view which parts of their property or settlement are affected by significant deformation. The system can also be used for monitoring infrastructure, including transport, industrial and mining infrastructure.

What does this service offer?

At full S1 resolution and in LOS geometry, approximately 30 million PS points:
- L2A: Purely PSI-based displacement time series and deformation velocities (not publicly available)
- L2B: PSI-based displacement time series and deformation velocities calibrated using the GNSS velocity model (not publicly available)

For approximately 2 million regularly spaced grid points, vertical and east–west horizontal displacement time series and deformation velocities are provided:
- L3A: Purely PSI-based displacement time series (not publicly available) and deformation velocities (freely available to the public)
- L3B: PSI-based displacement time series (not publicly available) and deformation velocities calibrated using the GNSS velocity model (freely available to the public)
