The Hydrography database is a uniformly structured GIS database, digitized on the basis of orthophotos, which contains Hungary’s surface and selected subsurface hydrographic features—watercourses, lakes, and related water bodies—in linear or polygonal form.

What does it contain?

The Hydrography database contains the following linear-type features: culvert, underground watercourse, water flowing under a bridge, water flowing through a lake, and watercourse. As surface-type objects, the Hydrography database includes the following watercourse features: flood culvert, flood relief channel, culvert, water flowing through a dam, water flowing through a building, river, water flowing under a bridge, water flowing over a bridge, reed bed, reed bed within a water surface, major river, and water flowing through a lake. As surface-type objects, the Hydrography database also includes the following standing water bodies: mining lake under extraction, mining lake, abandoned fishpond, fishpond, water under a bridge, floodplain oxbow lake, industrial lake, small lake, protected-side oxbow lake, reed bed, reed bed within a water surface, recreational lake, reservoir, natural lake, lake, wetland (marsh), water storage basin, and emergency flood storage basin.
