National Geospatial Base Map service (NGMHu)

Services
Land Registry, Geodesy and Surveying

An online base map service derived from homogeneous state geospatial data sources, integrating 8 thematic groups into a unified map style system for the Hungarian territory.

What is it used for?

The National Geospatial Base Map service (NGMHu) is a complex map service based on core data derived from nationwide remote sensing data and databases of sectoral thematic geospatial data systems (such as land registry or land cover, etc.). It is the country's first map service with unified and homogeneous map content, containing the most important geospatial data to facilitate online map orientation.

What problem does it solve?

It eliminates the problem of fragmented, hard-to-access state geospatial data. It provides a unified, authentic, and up-to-date national base map service free of charge, accelerating the sharing of information required for both public and professional needs. Accordingly, the primary goal of the NGMHu in public administration is to continuously provide a map serice as a 'background' that can be used for map orientation and integrated into individual systems as a base map. Thus, it can serve as a complementary base map service for any sectoral mapping activity, facilitating the interpretation of specific data layers through their spatial positioning.

What does this service offer?

The geospatial data content integrated into the service includes: administrative boundaries, built up area boundaries, buildings, structures, public buildings and building types, transportation facilities (road networks, rail networks, maritime and aviation facilities), water networks, water management facilities, rural land cover, specific layers of topograhy, nature conservation, and toponymy (geographical names).
