Improvement of the National Ecosystem Map of Hungary
Improvement of the National Ecosystem Map of Hungary [2015] by increasing its spatial resolution and implementing change detection.
Problem description
Request has been made to further develop the National Ecosystem Map of Hungary [2015] in terms of its spatial, thematic, and methodological aspects, and to prepare an updated version to analyze changes in the distribution of ecosystems. This development was made possible by the KEHOP_PLUSZ-3.2.2-24-2024-00002 project, “Laying the Groundwork for Strategic Planning of Ecosystem Service-Based Green Infrastructure Developments Relying on Renewable Data,” through the following institutional collaboration: ÉKFM, LTK, HUN-REN ÖK, HUN-REN ATK TAKI, MÁK.
Solution workflow
During the development process, we selected domain-specific data that is updated periodically and is appropriate in terms of both thematic content and spatial extent, which we supplemented using remote sensing methods during the data integration process.
Output
Raster (10x10-meter) map layers providing nationwide coverage, prepared for the reference years 2016 and 2023, which are also suitable for the spatial identification of changes in ecosystem types.
